I took my 1982 A112 Abarth to Paolo for an engine replacement. From an initial estimate of around €4,000-5,000 (insuranced by Paolo twice), including spare parts and labor, the final invoices totaled €9,000, exactly double. While I recognize the professionalism and honesty of the workshop, I would have appreciated it if they had warned me of the significant surcharge during the work progress, or even better, if they had warned me before starting (since they are experts) of the risk of such a significant expense. Absolutely avoid. When we contacted them to change ONE spark plug, they charged us €224 to replace four without asking if we agreed. A single spark plug costs €22... A reputable company would ask for approval and disclose the costs before carrying out UNsolicited work. I have other vehicles, both vintage and current, but over €30 just for a diagnosis, and €80 for labor for a spark plug change, which wasn't requested, is a complete rip-off. I think the trip to this mechanic is always worth it. He's a great mechanic. I live in Bologna, but rather than go to an incompetent mechanic, I'd pop in. He'll be able to understand the car's problems just by listening. Highly recommended, especially for ASI vintage cars.
